Video / I Bridge

During a 3 months residency at Flux Factory in New York, I developed a work inside an abandoned partly constructed building in Long Island City.

In the video I Bridge, architecture becomes both the construction in which the image lives and the protagonist of intuition. Behind a textured built membrane I propose my body as an exposed text, a layer in frame amid surfaces. I depict an encounter between my body, the veil texture and the space, creating a gesture of access.

The video I Bridge alludes to the embodied human as a social person cutting slices through veils of life to achieve an expanded conscious. The action of cutting is a response to the feeling that in times of mass consumption and media the individual can hardly see through the multiple veils of culture and society.

Through the repetitive arduous action of cutting the surface, I open the space and create a connection between internal and external. The work refers to a transnational and intercultural individual condition where navigating this liminal space is a long and a slow process .
