With the site-specific mixed media exhibition Gravity Matters, Redondo explores the boundaries of the studio space and creates a dialogue between video art, installation-sculpture and photography. Prior to the opening of the exhibition the artist spent five weeks working on the show in situ creating a sort of experimental art laboratory. The off space gallery Bruch & Dallas is located on a lower level of Cologne´s post war developed Ebertplatz and until the 1990s used to be part of shopping arcade leading to the connecting subway station. The project Gravity Matters investigates gravity and weightlessness as two opposing but interrelated forces. It tries to illuminate their relation to different patterns, spatial structures and stabilizing principles and their penetration into an environment that causes with a space reconfiguration, a dynamic visual perceptual experience. By scanning levels, ascent and descent, weight and weightlessness, matter and spirit in the concrete architecture of the room and through the combination of widespread construction and materials, video projection and sound the artists tries to develop a mixed-media dialogue in which scientific and aesthetics discourses overlap to re-encode the activity of the eye.
